A flexible brand identity that promotes a healthy lifestyle through delicious recipes and fitness.
Choosing My Health is a movement to inspire and empower you to walk the journey to the healthiest version of you.
Choosing My Health began as a podcast. However, the owner's vision was to create a visual brand identity that would expand beyond the podcast and be flexible enough to be applied to other brand assets in print, digital, and apparel.
I requested a list of words to inform their goals for the brand. I chose to focus on the following:
Life Changing
Motivating
Healing
Pumped
Alive
Game changer
Yes
Healthy
Fresh
Fun
Fast
About time
Youthful
After discovery and research, I presented the watercolor peach—a light and fresh brand identity with green leaves signifying the choice to indulge in a healthy option. Fruit represents a fundamental quality of a nutritious diet. The watercolors are warm, rich, and chic and naturally incorporate a color palette that fits recipes and apparel for the primarily female audience the client seeks.
Health is an over-saturated buzzword seen in diet and exercise programs—restaurants, retail, and grocery stores all promote health in some form or another. I chose to emphasize the word "choosing" with Shellahera Script, a handwritten font that feels personal and gives a signature-like quality to the logo. This provides the identity with an "I'm signing up" or "my signature begins the health journey." It also feels organic with its irregular edges that echo the outline of a peach. Open Sans set below balances the free-form handwritten script anchoring the idea that this brand is about health.
The brand's flexibility allows the watercolor peach to cater to recipes. The secondary logo places "Choosing My Health" below the watercolor peach, allowing the logo to decrease in size and establish an icon for a favicon and social media profiles.
The brand identity is flexible, from promoting recipes and nutrition facts to fitness, carrying an athletic aesthetic when applied to apparel, and working across print and digital platforms like podcasts, websites, and YouTube.
The brand reveal was a decisive moment, moving the client to tears. It was everything, and more she was looking for. These are the moments I live for, where a vision and design achieves all of the client's goals.
